Natural Disaster Safety

It is fortunate that in the Midwest, we don’t have to worry about hurricanes, Tsunamis or rarely any earthquakes, however, there are natural disasters that can be just as destructive and happen right where we live. In the Midwest, it is common to get tornados, windstorms, severe thunderstorms with power outages, floods, winter storms, and some fires. On this episode of All Around Rockford, we discuss how to protect ourselves against mother nature during any time of the year.

When we have nice weather outside and the sun is shining, the last thing we want to do is worry about safety precautions for foul weather, but it is much better to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances than to have to make sudden life or death decisions in the middle of a disaster. Special guests include Chief Phil Foley from the Loves Park Fire Department and Police Sgt. Todd Houde from the Cherry Valley Police Department.
