Have
you ever wondered what it would be like if you grew up in a different family?
Perhaps a destitute household with a single parent who had little more
than a grammar school education OR an abusive home with an alcoholic mother
and incarcerated father. Do you think you’d be where you are today? Just
as successful? Just as educated?
Of course, people can rise above their circumstances, and also those with a good start can sink to the lowest depth. However, this is not the usual case. Those fortunate ones who were given good parents and good lives should be forever grateful. They lucked out. After all, people cannot choose the conditions under which they were born and raised.
Think about people who are homeless. How did they end up like this? What were their life circumstances? …Probably not the same as yours and mine so we shouldn’t be too quick to judge people as we might have ended up in the same place given the same circumstances.
On this episode of AAR, we meet Pastor Al and Doris English who head up the Ground for Life Ministry, a breakfast program for the homeless in Rockford. They see each homeless person as meaningful, equally important to God, and each with his/her own life story to share. The ministry helps people in need, & strives to make a difference in the homeless population.
