Foster Care

Foster care is the temporary placement of children outside of their own homes. A placement occurs because of abuse, neglect, or other family situations. There are various agencies, like Lutheran Social Services & the Children’s Home & Aid Society of IL, that work with families to reunite them. When that's not possible, measures are taken to get the children adopted -- or prepare them for independent life. Special guests on this episode of AAR include Kathy Reese, Program Director of Lutheran Social Services and Kelly Whitham, a foster care parent since June of 2000.
