Managing Stress

Do you sometimes feel afraid, but can’t pinpoint what you actually fear? Is winning a top priority in your everyday life? Do you feel guilty when leisure activities take precedence over work? Do you feel overwhelmed or anxious all of the time? If you answered “yes” to more than one of these questions, you may be more vulnerable to diseases that are stress related as well as possibly be reducing your life expectancy. Mishandling stress can diminish your quality of life, hurt your ability to perform and break down your relationships, thereby making you more prone to illness. The art of stress management involves keeping yourself at a level of stimulation that is both healthy and enjoyable. Stress is not so much what happens to you, but how you respond to it.

Guests include Jennifer Tucek, Preventative Cardiology Manager at Swedish American Hospital, who organizes and teaches several stress classes at the hospital & Dr. Dawn Edwards, a clinical psychologist at Swedish American.
