Perinatal Bereavement Support

What joy there is in finding out that you’re going to have a baby! There is no other feeling like it. The excitement, anticipation and love you feel during the 9 months can hardly be expressed. However, what happens to those feelings when there are pregnancy complications? How do women cope through high risk pregnancies, emergency surgeries and premature babies, or worse yet miscarriages and stillborn babies? The feelings of elation turn to devastation, and many mothers (and fathers) get absolutely no support or comfort. On this episode of AAR, we meet, Raymona McClain, a local woman who has experienced losing five babies through premature birth, miscarriage and stillborn birth. We learn how she coped with the trauma, how her faith played a large role and how today she’s helping other women. We also hear about a local organization that’s designed to support families going through these tragedies--The Haven Network for Perinatal Death & Bereavement.
