Post Abortion Healing
There are over 1 million abortions performed every year in the United States,
and the overwhelming majority of them are done as a means of birth control. Why
is it that many women and men believe that having an abortion is an acceptable
choice? And yet, why then do these same people often times wish they could take
back that decision? They regret their choice of having had an abortion.
Today, studies show that countless women suffer from depression, guilt,
shame and isolation after having had an abortion. They find it difficult
to concentrate,
have nightmares or may abuse alcohol and drugs. The emotional and spiritual
trauma can become unbearable. Where are their doctors now? Who will help
these women
reconcile, and lead them to a path of love, understanding, forgiveness and
spiritual peace? On this episode of AAR, we meet Renee Scrivano, Director
of the Stateline
Pregnancy Center in Beloit who cares very much about healing the broken hearts
of women who have experienced post-abortion syndrome. Renee shares her personal
testimony as well. We also meet Catherine Rennert who heads up a local weekend
retreat for women who have struggled with emotional or spiritual pain of
abortion. The organization for which she volunteers is called Rachel’s
Vineyard. Both women discuss the pain and sorrow in a woman’s
life after having had an abortion (many times, years later) and how
she can work her way through
the
healing process.
