Prison Ministry

What are your first thoughts when you think of convicts in jails, some of whom have committed terrible crimes? Do you hope that they will stay locked up forever? Would you insist that they can no longer lead lives like the rest of us? But, would you feel the same about convicts whose lives have changed for the better? Do you believe that their lives can be that drastically changed? If so, should they be given a second chance?
In this episode of All around Rockford, we meet some very compassionate people who go into the jail and work with inmates on a daily basis encouraging them to change their lifestyles. The group is called Reach Out Jail Ministries and it has helped thousands of inmates, many of whom are now upstanding citizens in our community. Chaplain Michael Sowell and Associate Chaplain Laura DeVries share how the ministry helps change the lives of inmates forever.

Holly Swanson is joined with two guests of Reach Out Jail Ministries; Associate Chaplain Michael Sowell and Chaplain Laura DeVries.
