When you hear someone mention the Salvation Army, what comes to mind? Perhaps
you picture an organization with people helping in disasters and in times of
great need… or maybe you think of the famous bell ringers at Christmas-time...
Some of you may shop at a Salvation Army store... And others may attend classes
at the Salvation Army Millenium Center.
But these things barely scratch the surface of all that this great organization
offers.
Did you know that the Salvation Army is a Christian ministry, has its own church
and over 15 youth programs, 25 adult programs, 20 social service programs and
12 operating programs that service this community? In this episode of All around
Rockford, we take a closer look at some of them. Major Daniel Sjogren & Dan
Nelson, Community Relations Director at the Salvation Army join us to talk about
the history and purpose of the Kettle Program. Captain Jason Pollom joins us
to talk about the Night Patrol Program. And Michael Sjogren and Don George join
us to talk about the new Out-of-School Suspension Program.
