Truancy
“Stay in School.” This has been a coined phrase we’ve heard since we were kids. “You want to get a good job, stay in school.” “You want to make a lot of money, stay in school.” “You want to make a difference, you know what you need to do—Stay in school.” The same phrase is taught to kids today. So if the benefits are so very clear, why are kids tardy, skipping class, taking off early and ditching school entirely? And what can we do to change this matter of truancy? We find out the answers to these questions and more on this episode of AAR. Joining us is Dr. Dennis Thompson, Superintendent of Rockford Schools and Adam Smith, Director of Education and Life-Long Learning at the City of Rockford.
